How to clean your house easily-The Organise Away way
Do you feel like you can never get on top of the housework? Are you looking for a routine that’s easy to follow to help you clean your house into easy steps? I’ve got just the thing- a quick step-by-step routine that will break it down into chunks that you can do. Don’t worry if you think it’ll take you ages; as you get used to the routine you’ll speed up.
( If you really feel you don’t know where to start, then my Decluttering routine will help you-coming soon).
So let’s get started!
Clean Your House Easily Step 1- Everyday Tasks
If you tackle certain jobs every day, they don’t have time to build up and become overwhelming ( I’m looking at you, laundry pile!) So I always
-make (or air) the beds everyday
-do 1 load of laundry a day
-do a 5 minute spruce up of the bathroom ( eg wipe up toothpaste spills, wipe the toilet seat over)
-wipe kitchen surfaces down towards the end of the day to get rid of spills and crumbs
-quick tidy of the kitchen floor to catch crumbs ( a Dustbuster is invaluable for this, or just a broom or dustpan and brush work well)
Clean Your House Easily Step 2- Weekly Tasks
These are more in depth cleaning your house jobs, but they have a natural flow to them so that you shouldn’t need to redo work ( eg dust first, then vacuum afterwards so that any dust that’s disturbed and not caught by the duster will be removed by the vacuum). Also I like to do bathrooms on the Monday as everyone has been at home over the weekend so they get more use!
So my routine is-
Monday -Clean bathrooms ( not the floor, we’ll cover that later)
Friday- Detail Day ( I explain this in more detail below)
Saturday- Wash bedsheets and towels
Sunday- Day off!…. well apart from the Everyday Tasks above- that’s just part of life I’m afraid 😉
Clean Your House Easily Step 3- Detail Day
This is the day where you can work on cleaning a room in detail, so that every few weeks each room gets an in-depth clean. I go into more detail on this in my Cleaning Up course ( coming soon).
Therefore every Friday you could pick from this list-
Clean bedrooms thoroughly- skirting boards, tops of wardrobes, behind and under beds
Paperwork Day- do you have any urgent paperwork that needs to be taken care of? ( If you want to know how to keep on top of your paperwork, read my tips on how to organise your paper clutter .
Living room/ lounge- skirting boards, dust ornaments, clean behind the TV/ entertainment unit
Entrance Hall – does the shoe drawer need sorting out, or the cloakroom cupboard need tidying up?
These are only examples and I explain more in my Cleaning Up course.
